ELIMINATE THE DRUNK DEVIL FROM BEHIND THE WHEEL

DRUNKEN DRIVING: THE PARLIAMENT HAS INVITED PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN LEGISLATING NEW TRAFFIC RULES AND PENALITIES.
Let us not miss this opportunity to eliminate this monster from behind the wheel.

Laws from drunken driving will be as under.

1) There will be no 1st chances (Are there 1st chances for murder?). A license holder is a mature adult & understands the consequences of driving under influence of any mind altering substance. He may himself die for all we care, we have to enact laws to protect his potential victims, think of the life of the victim and his dependents post accident. A person drinking and driving is never caught when he does it the first time, and this creed grows bolder with each offence. HENCE: No mercy, no chances. Straight to the severest of punishments.

2) A person found with slightest trace of liquor in blood shall be subjected to following punishments:
a) Vehicle shall be impounded straightaway, even if he is just an employed driver.
b) License suspended for life.
c) Penalty of Rs. 1 lakh for drunken driving (not in case of an accident).
d) Rigorous imprisonment for 6 months without bail (not in case of an accident). e) Penalty of up to Rs. 10 lakh in case of drunken driving resulting in an accident (with no fatalities or injuries)
f) Rigorous imprisonment for 2 years in case of drunken driving resulting in an accident (with no fatalities or injuries).
g) Penalty of Rs. 1 cr. Per dead person / injured person in case of drunken driving resulting in an accident with fatalities.
h) Life imprisonment for drunken driving resulting in fatalities.

Enact these laws and we shall not have a single incident. Dear minister, please sit in a hospital treating a victim of drunken driving when writing the law on this subject. Or visit the ruined families of these victims. These victims are languishing in poverty brought upon them by a drunkard, because the rulers thus far did not have the gumption to punish the guilty because most of these drunkards were high and mighty. One very positive fall out of this would be more employment for drivers.
