After many years democratic efforts of different people and organizations the University of Pune Senate finally has passed the resolution to rename "University of Pune" as "Dnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Vidyapeeth". As a process this resolution has been forwarded to the State Government of Maharashtra for the final approval.
This will help to promote the legacy of Great Social Reformer Savitribai Phule who brought education to women of each and every caste from Avarna-Untouchable Caste Women to Caste Brahmin Hindu Women.
The renaming will always remind the history to new students that only 17 year old young women Savitribai Phule became the first women teacher in 1848 when all caste women were banned from getting education under the Vedic and Hindu Religious Laws. Such a great lady fearlessly led the battle for justice to all women irrespective of caste till the end of her life.
Her great struggle will inspire new women to get justice and equal status not only in India but all over the world. The name will also promote equality and value based education system among the young generation.
It is not a political issue but certainly an ideological issue. As usual anti-women, anti-social elements and supporters of caste system are opposing this decision of renaming "University of Pune" as "Dnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Vidyapeeth" .
Kindly support renaming "University of Pune" as "Dnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Vidyapeeth".
