Please do not bring the CBWMHE Scheme under the WS Standing Committee

This petition is a humble request to the UGC to consider and prevent the merger of the Capacity Building Scheme with the Women’s Studies Scheme. Though both the schemes deal with the gender component, the purpose or intent, style of working, and end stake holders are different. The Women’s Studies Centres cater to inculcating the gender component in the University curriculum and environment through institution of degrees in Women’s Studies, Research and Advocacy programmes and also help prevent atrocities against women. The Capacity Building Scheme on the other hand is initiated with a definite purpose of improving the Women Faculty’s participation in higher decision making positions of the Institutes, not through nomination or reservations but through building their capability to occupy such positions. This is a very unique and innovative approach and one that appears to be very successful.
