TO MAKE DELHI A STATE LIKE OTHER STATES IN INDIA

New Delhi which is the capital of the Republic of India as of now is a Union territory with a legislative assembly of elected representatives but unlike other states of India the people of Delhi does not enjoy Democracy and are still living in a colonial-era structure where the Lt. Governor who is an agent of the Central government in effect enjoys a virtual veto in all the powers of the elected representatives which they themselves derive from the people which do not happen in other states of India and the state government is very powerful and the Governor acts on the advice of the state cabinet.

Such a structure is detrimental to the people who are the residents of New Delhi and very beneficial to the political parties who don't care about the interests of the people and acts according to their own political exigencies this results in the following harms to the people of Delhi as follows--

1)The people of Delhi who are the true sovereign according to the principles of democracy cannot make their demands to be met for example the recent Sealing drive of the Delhi's middle-class shop owners who are perhaps not aware of the nitty-gritty of politics cannot make their elected government just pass a law which even if passed may be rejected by the Lt. governor who loses?--->people of Delhi.

2)The students of Delhi are do not have a special preference in the admissions to colleges in Delhi neither in the jobs, because Delhi is not a state, outer state candidates can easily apply for Delhi jobs without any partiality but students of Delhi applying for jobs in other states are treated with partiality. Who loses?-->people of Delhi.

3)The interests of the people in a Democracy can only be met when their representatives have the power to bring an effect by their power, but what is happening in Delhi is exactly what used to happen before independence the colonial Governors virtually made the elected representatives powerless. who is losing-->people of Delhi.

My petition is for you all to please sign and forward it to more people the point I am making here is that either Delhi is made a full-fledged state or just a full Union territory because this halfway is making the people of Delhi devoid of the fruits of democracy which is their right.
