To The Chancellor, Jadavpur University : Protest against police atrocities

On 9th Nov'10 the honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal was in Jadavpur University Campus to inaugurate the newly opened auditorium- Gandhi Bhaban. Some students of a particular political organization were demonstrating peacefully near Gandhi Bhaban. After the CM left the campus they began to move towards the auditorium and the police, present there, began lathicharge on general students who weren't even part of the demonstration program and were 'unluckily' passing by the area. Most of them were students of engineering faculty. Most unfortunate is that even some memberof the 'Kormochari Samsad'(Union of the University Staff) indulged in this brutal activity.

On the other side scenario in Gandhivaban was: Someone was giving a thoughtful lecture of the non-violence policy of Mr. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi(better known as Mahatma Gandhi). Even our Vice-Chancellor and Registrar was present in the auditorium and when they are requested to look after the condition outside they just ignored.

So, we condemn the police atrocity on the the general students in the name of CM's security(though after 30mins of CM's leaving it wasn't needed) and the brutal behavior of the staff and want some explanation from the honorable vice-chancellor of Jadavpur University.

In this movement of general students we need the strong support of the society. So if you condemn this brutality please sign the petition.
