Justice For Swathi

The news about Swathi an Infosys employee who has been killed in broad day light in city's one of the busiest railway stations has shaken all of us. The criminal took out a sickle-like weapon and without a drop of humanity had cut her jaw area and left her bleeding. It's such a gory sight even to imagine.

Today it's spoken, discussed in media shows and people vent out their helplessness and anger in social media. But tomorrow this will be forgotten. This has happened time and again. The only other time it will be discussed in future will be when a similar incident happens again.

This is an appeal to all people: Let's not allow this wound to dry until the root cause is identified and fixed. Let's not allow this to become just a news item. Life losses in barbaric way like this deserve to be in top of our minds even. It's our responsibility to stay on top of this in whichever ways possible and track it to closure after the right justice is delivered. I don't think there's any other justice than death sentence can be right in this case.

This is a murder. PERIOD. No question of ill treatment of the criminal by Swathi. Nothing justifies murder. Have faith in our judiciary. Trust that it will be unbiased.

This is for the safety of women in India, not just for the justice of Swathi alone.
