Grievance: Fraudulent approach of builder -Jain Housing & Constructions Ltd.

We are a group of people of Kerala origin working in India and different parts of the world. We have invested our hard earned money in a housing project in Kakkanad. The project by Jain Housing called Tufnell Park, had grand plans and we bought into the project. Most of us want to take possession and plan to live there when we eventually move back to Kerala. Some of us have paid off the complete cost of the flat while others have paid more than 90%.

The project was reduced in scope from 8 blocks to 2 blocks with reduced shared amenities provided without consulting or informing any of the buyers.

The project was started in early 2008 and was scheduled to be handed over in March 2011, the project progress has completely stalled and a year and half after the scheduled completion date, the project looks likely to take many years more to be completed to the original specification if ever. The 2 blocks promised will also take another year to complete, looking at the current status.

Repeated phone calls, emails to the local Jain Housing offices in Cochin and in Chennai or even enquiry via registerd mail has failed to provide any reply as to the plans for the completion of the project.

Each of the flat represents a substantial investment for each of us, all our lives' savings, with bank loans for which we are paying large interest amounts on.

We would like to request your office to intervene in the matter and persuade the builder to compensate us for the delays and provide a clear schedule for completion of the entire project. If your office is not he right authority to address this issue, then please point us to the proper authority that can provide the right recourse for us.
