Equal Wages

India has come a long way when it comes to women-at-work. Today an average Indian women has more rights than anyone could have imagined to exist, just a few decades back. Working women have a lot of power and support of people, employers, law and police on their side. Still in many sectors and areas especially in rural places, women continue to be exploited for low wages. Though it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of sex of a person when it comes to wages, but some employers, read exploiters, are indulging in it and are getting away with it.

Passing laws and making constitutional amendments is not enough. State governments and police should come ahead and ensure that women are not given second-hand treatment when it comes to wages. It is their hard earned money and they are entitled to whatever is due to them.
