The law that came to force in 2006 was welcomed by everyone across the country. It primarily meant to provide protection of the wife or a female live-in partner from voilence at the hands of the husband or his relative.

The Law has also extended its protection to mothers, sisters and widows. But recently many cases of misuse of the law have come up wherein the women have abused the law and used it to their own (unfair) advantage over their husbands.

The fact is 4 in 10 men have been victims of domestic voilence too, at least, once in their lifetimes. Hence we request the Parliament, NGOs, NHRC, etc. working in this direction, to patch up the loopholes in the law.
