Saw this on TV just now, found this site online. Created an account, started this.
The TV show "Dadagiri" aired on UTV Bindass is being promoted as a show where "four students will be chosen to revisit the horrors of being bullied on the first day of college by giving a physical, brain, and compete with each other. There will be three 'dadas' in three rounds, and the survivor will be declared the winner, who will receive a prize money of Rs 50 lakhs."
According to Zarina Mehta, CEO Bindass, this is a "test of physical strength, brains and raw courage."
Bindass channel has tried to position itself as a 'youth entertainment' channel. And is this the kind of an idea it wants to give the youth?
The show clearly validates ragging. Worse still, it says, here's your opportunity to show yourself as better. The better 'beast' to use their own term.
"The one contestant who survives all the three rounds and the bullies wins the game show and walks away with Rs.50,000/- in cash, right there right then."
The use of the word 'survives' is an insult to those who've lost their lives because of this heinous practice.
Ragging has to go, and ridiculous shows like this MUST be taken off air.
