I’m a woman. Nature gave me the ability to bear children. Nature gave me the ability to bring a new life into the world. I’m a woman.

And I menstruate.

Bearing children? Integral part of womanhood

Bringing a new life into the world? Nurturing; Godlike

Menstruating? umm...

Talking about menstruation? Blasphemy!

The position of women and womanhood have always had a dichotomous nature in our society, where we’ve accepted and venerated one aspect while rejected and denied the other. Among various other problems, this has impacted and continues to impact the menstrual health and hygiene of the women of our society.

While attitudes are changing and awareness is increasing, women still remain uninformed about various factors regarding their health and well being.

For instance, many women are still unaware that sanitary napkins, if not changed every six hours can become a breeding ground for bacteria that cause vaginal and urinary tract infections, and also lead to skin rashes.

Also, the kind of stressful lifestyle that we lead today affects our menstrual cycle, making it erratic and irregular.

Having stated the importance of changing sanitary napkins regularly and, the unpredictable nature of when the need for a napkin might arise, how often than not do we find ourselves in emergency situations, with no help at hand?

Will having a sanitary napkin lending box at least in college campuses not be of great convenience and ease to all of us?

Join us by signing this petition as we make an effort to provide free sanitary napkins in colleges’ girls’ washrooms and girls’ common rooms.

Let's create a collective effort through this petition for a healthy and hygienic you, today and tomorrow.

CLOSE ENOUGH !!
