Reconsider the Transfer of Fr. Evan D'souza from Our Lady of the Rosary Church

We, the undersigned, Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) members and Parishioners of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Goregaon West, were shocked to read the news of Fr.Evan D’Souza (our Parish Priest) being transferred to St. Francis Assisi Church, Bandra West, as a Priest-in-charge in the Examiner.




Fr. Evan D’Souza was appointed as our Parish Priest only one year ago. In this short period, he won the hearts of all the parishioners with his dedication, humility and selflessness. Fr. Evan D’Souza was always available to the parishioners and made it a point to attend the Small Christian Community (SSC) meetings of the Parish. He also encouraged the parishioners to participate actively in the issues of the larger community.




Further, Fr. Evan D’Souza maintained excellent relations with all the employees of the Church as well as teachers and staff of St. Thomas Academy.




As parishioners, we observed that Fr. Evan D’Souza struck very cordial relations with his subordinate priests and there was a palpable environment of cordiality in the Church.




Fr. Evan D’Souza homilies were from the heart and he drew inspiration from life around him. Way of the Cross conducted by him and the homilies at the Divine Mercy novenas were excellent, meaningful and impressive.




There are reports that Fr. Evan D’Souza was being opposed by a section of the parishioners who targeted him on certain issues. Because of this, the majority of parishioners cannot be deprived of the valuable services rendered by Fr. Evan.




Fr. Evan D’Souza made untiring efforts to bring all communities of our Parish together irrespective of language and region.




We appeal to you, Your Lordship to re-consider the transfer of the people’s Parish Priest, Fr. Evan D’Souza, and bring back a cheer to the hearts of the parishioners of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Goregaon West.
