DUTA has boycotted the evaluation process given their resentment over the UGC notifications. They intended to stir the MHRD ofcourse but what this protest has led to is discontent and disturbance among the students of the university who were ofcourse not responsible for the UGC amendments.

The session is resuming this week and no notification regarding the results has been released. Due to this, the students residing in university hostels have been confronted with a major issue since the re-admission procedure is bound to start after the declaration of results.

The Undergraduate hostel for girls is a home to 662 outstation students out of which more than 400 belong to second and third years. Hundreds of these girls today are loaded with the worry of finding a temporary accomodation in the city, failing to which they shall be bounded to miss the initial lectures in their respective colleges.

Hence, the intended residents of the UGHG demand being admitted to the hostel on a provisional basis until the results come out. The hostel could consider past result of the students for this purpose since a student who has passed one semester with 70% marks is very less likely to score less than 40% or fail in the second. This is nothing but a fair and logical step the students expect the hostel authorities to take in order to ensure their wellbeing.
