Gujarat Doctors should help Administration
Petitioning: Gujarat doctors
Petitioner: Petition Voice started on March 10, 2009
As reported by the newspapers, around 2,800 private doctors in the Saurashtra-Kutch region struck work for a day on Monday to protest harassment by civic officials who have been raiding their clinics after the death of 62 patients in the state in February-March due to the suspected use of infected syringes.
Although the 62 Hepatitis B deaths took place in north Gujarat, but civic officials have been raiding clinics and hospitals all over the state for medical waste disposal compliance. This is against the ethics of medical practice itself. They are protesting against the administration for checking for enforcement of safety standards.
Doctors themselves know how dangerous such outbreak of hepatitis is. This is an appeal to Gujarat doctors that they should help the administration in carrying out the compliance checks. If all these doctors are following the regulations themselves then they should not be worried.
