Petitioning: Responsibility of Upholding Democracy

Petitioner: Madhulika started on August 26, 2011

The civil society vehemently drafted a Janlokpal Bill which as we all know by this time would serve as a much powerful tool to combat the ever pervading evil of corruption from our society. This draft has 'teeth' which would prove to be more effective than many of the already existing legislations which serve no bigger purpose than just be present as statutes and pile up our legislations.
Anna and team did a tremendous work to educate all the educated people as well as a common villager to the fact that democracy means and includes not only 'of' the people' but FOR THE PEOPLE too. This is apparent from the people's massive support to the campaign. After10 days of Anna's fast to present this draft in the parliament the senior political leaders decided ( since they could subdue) to end this jamlock by holding talks with Team Anna and giving them meaningless assurances as to show their concern for implementing a very effective lokpalbill.
But as we know from history these only turned out to be psuedo dialogues and led to no results till now.The new pretext of not following any said assurance was given to be the Upholding of Parliament and the Processes therein. They are citing these excuses but EXCUSE ME who has undermined or unglorifed the democracy by not implementing this particular piece of legislation for the LAST 42 YEARS.
THE Parliamentarians (who are only a set of people representing their respective constituencies) are as we clearly understand sent to the same dignified place-Parliament " by" the same common people of our country on whom they do RULE and forget the rest of their job for the next 5 years.
Irony is that when we remind them of the job-welfare of people , it is said that it amounts to unglorifying and undermining the democracy. Is it true?
