Stop wasting taxpayers’ money on UPA Advertisements

I am sure every one of us has seen, heard and watched advertisements of UPA Government in Newspapers, Radio and Television and even on Billboards since mid 2013 and still continuing.

With a strong belief that we, the CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY ARE ITS TRUE OWNERS by virtue of being taxpayers, a consortium of taxpayers has formed Vidarbha Taxpayers Association (VTA), Nagpur in December 2011. It is also undeniable that every individual is a taxpayer, paying either in the form of direct or indirect taxes and it is to protect and safeguard the common man's right as a taxpayer that this organization has taken shape.

Unfortunately these advertisements does not carry any message, they are just praising themselves of activities carried, which is not required, because they are made/elected to provide such facilities/services to citizens and should not spend taxpayers’ hard earned money on such advertisements.

Mostly these advertisements are issued by Directorate of Advertisements and Visual Publicity (DAVP) which comes under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

On gaining information from DAVP under RTI (also available on DAVP website), approximately Rs.400 Crores annually spent by Govt on such advertisements, which most likely would double in 2013-14 as UPA Govt is hell-bent to spend even last penny on advertisement rather than making use of such taxpayers money on some national assets or services.

VTA had already sent request petitions to these Ministries; however neither any response nor any change adopted by the UPA Govt; hence its high time that entire nation stands together against this misuse of taxpayers hard earned money by Govt.

Dear Taxpayers, if you are satisfied by the contents herein request you to sign this petition in the interest of the country as spending of taxpayers’ hard earned money on such non productive advertisements is absolutely not justified.

PRAYER : By this petition, we request UPA Government to immediately stop such wastage of taxpayers money on advertisements and reimburse the amount so spent till date to Govt exchequer from AICC funds with interest with a direction that Government in future too should not issue such advertisements just praising themselves, which does not carry any meaningful information for the citizens.
